The Good Samaritan
John 15:12: “This is my commandment, that you love one another even as I have loved you.”
Forty-six years ago, at the time when I left home to go to another city for business training, I had to stay at a hospital for two months because of a sudden illness. My wife wanted to come to see me, but then there would be no one to take care of our two little children. I was lonesome and distressed.
One day, a stranger visited me in the hospital. He told me that God loves me, and taught me how to pray. I can never forget my first prayer. That prayer encouraged and comforted me.
I asked him how he knew me. He said he was sent by the Lord Jesus and the church. Afterward, I learned that my wife, helpless at home, had told her problem to a Christian couple, and they in turn told other members of the local church. A brother there took the burden to come visit me.
Praise the Lord, who made all things work together for the salvation of my family. The great love of God through the churches and that brother touched me.
Since my wife and I got baptized, we have opened our house for the gospel, have practiced loving others, and have enjoyed the meetings of the local church.
